So, I love tv. Like want to spend the rest of my life with it, can’t live without it, would fight you for it- love it. And while I think I have pretty good taste when it comes to food, books, movies, etc- that goes all out the door when it comes to tv shows. And reality tv shows are my secret weakness. So, here’s my review of some of the current reality shows out there.
Celebrity Apprentice – The Donald is annoying. Ivanka’s nose and boobs are new. Omarosa is annoying. But I have to say this is one of the more interesting Apprentice seasons out there – partially because of wacky and abrasive BUT super business savvy Gene Simmons. The men’s team is kicking the women’s teams’ asses so far. That may change though since superstar Gene Simmons looks to be jumping over to the women’s team next week.
Crowned – S0me of my friends refuse to watch this show because of the meanness of some of the mother/daughter teams out there. I agree that some of the bitchy behavior of some of the teams & cliques is cringe-worthy but then, again- that’s what keeps me watching… because I want to see good overcome bad. I want to see the mean girls get a smackdown.
Project Runway – I love watching the show because I secretly want to sew like them BUT I have to say this season is pretty boring. None of the contestants are really that interesting – I mean, they’re all likable but maybe that’s the problem… there’s no one I hate to watch.
Miss America Reality Check – Seriously I think this show is doing some of these pageant girls a great favor by updating their look and trying to help them be more sincere- out with the canned phrases and fake smiles. And surprisingly with such a huge number of girls living together and competing against one another- there still has been relatively no drama or cattiness.
Amazing Race – It’s down to the final four teams. The most likeable team is the hippie couple team- they’re just extremely laid back. So, I’m rooting for them and father/daughter team – just because Christina, the daughter is really nice. I can’t stand the couple team of Jen & Nate – I mean, it’s pretty obvious that they shouldn’t be together- they’re extremely verbally abusive to one another. Sheesh.
Celebrity Rehab – Oh man. Can you say depressing? Watching Jeff Conway snorting up drugs with a dollar bill really put a damper on my evening. He can’t even talk without slurring all his words. I think this show has good intentions. I just hope they don’t exploit these poor d-list celebs. Um, Mary Carey is one train wreck. She freaked out when they took away her dildo and strap on. She also asked Shifty if he wanted to fuck. Dr. Drew had tell her that she wasn’t allowed to have sex during treatment.
Biggest Loser : Couples – This is the first season that I’m watching this show and I am enjoying it. It’s one of those rare reality shows that are really there to help people. It’s really touching to see these contestants lose weight and how it really is changing their lives. It’s also inspiring – makes me really want to exercise.
Jon & Kate Plus Eight – (If you laugh at me b/c I watch this – I’ll cut you- I swear I will) This super wholesome show is surprisingly entertaining. The kids are really cute. It’s pretty cool how each sextuplet at age 3 already has a distinct personality.
American Gladiator – Come on, how can you not love American Gladiator? The Wolf is a trip. Watchig the contestants get pummeled is entertaining. Watching them beat the gladiators is even more entertaining!
Make Me A Supermodel – This is on the DVR. I haven’t watched the whole episode yet but I saw snippets of it. It looks eh. I used to LOVE Nikki Taylor but she’s looking a bit drag queenish lately.
