The Last Kiss August 28, 2007

“The Last Kiss” is an awfully depressing movie.  I don’t think I am a Zach Braff fan.  I didn’t like “Garden State” either.  I haven’t watched any “Scrubs” yet though.  So, for now- I am not a Zach Braff fan.

But I am a fan of Edy’s Fruit Bars in Tropical Flavors.  They are ridiculously good.

You know what else is surprisingly good?  Vegan mayo.  Seriously.  I don’t know how or why- but it is.  I don’t think I’m quite ready to give up my carnivore status just yet but I made a few changes in the fridge.  We’ll see.

Okay, “The Last Kiss” just ended – it went from awfully depressing to just plain awful.  It’s not that the story or situations were unrealistic – they were very realistic and happen everyday I’m sure but perhaps the resolutions of these situations is what bugged me.  They seemed to neat and packaged.

The City Of Lost Children August 8, 2007

Tonight we watched “The City of Lost Children”. I’ve never seen it before. The bf is a fan. He recently had me watch “Delicatessen”- directed by the same directors Jeunet & Caro.

I liked “Delicatessen”. I REALLY liked “The City of Lost Children”.

Both movies are very fairytale-esque but in a dark, dark way. Perhaps the way the Grimm Brothers first intended their tales to be before Disney princessized and sugar-coated fairytales. But “The City of Lost Children” is no Grimm fairytale.

This story is full of crazy gadgets, cloned idiots, flea warfare, an evil dream thief, toddler kidnappers, and etc.

The heroine of this story is a plucky young girl. More clever than most adults and brave too- she sets off to help a lug of a simpleton man rescue his little brother from the evil dream thief.

Good times.
