We went to Brooklyn Fish Camp last night in Park Slope. I hopped on the F train and rode it all the way from Jackson Heights, Queens to well, you know- Park Slope. The train ride wasn’t too bad. I recently moved from Manhattan to Jackson Heights and my body has slowly begun to accept commuting. I even like it some days. For one thing- I get a lot of reading done on the train. I’ve gone through 7 books in the past two months since I moved.

Of the 7 books I read- I would strongly recommend Chuck Palahniuk’s “Rant: An Oral Biography of Buster Casey”. It’s quirky and fun.  I also liked Tom Perrota’s “Little Children”.

I also did read the last installment of the Harry Potter saga. I was a little bit disappointed in it. How about you? I don’t want to give any spoilers away – so, I’ll just leave it at that for now.

Sorry- got off topic- it’s my hidden ADDness. So, we went to Brooklyn Fish Camp and it was okay. Not something I’d ride the train all the way from Queens to again but I mean, I liked my meal. I won’t be having dreams about it or writing home to my mom about it. But the food was decent. I even have pictures- I’ll try to figure out how to upload them. Just be warned- I’m no photographer.

Frankly, I think, Pearl Oyster Bar is better. I haven’t had Mary’s Fish Camp which is Brooklyn Fish Camp’s sister restaurant- but I have heard Mary’s is really good.

So at BFC, we started with the lobster knuckles which was okay. But our friend BK who had been there the week before was disappointed b/c last time when he ordered it- the plate was heaped – HEAPED- with lobster knuckles. We only had a few on our plate.

And using my Veronica Mars super duper deductive powers- I figured out why that was. Moments after serving us our lobster knuckles, a waitress erased it off their menu. Yes, folks, we got one of the last batches and that’s probably why it was so skimpy!

I ordered the grilled Mahi Mahi which was good but the grapefruit cilantro watery dressing thrown on top of it was a little too citrusy and way to watery. The boyfriend had the bbq Salmon which he liked but did say tasted very bbqy coz of the sauce they used. The side dish they gave him was mashed potatoes laced with corn meal. It was good but the texture was odd. BK had a whole trout wrapped in bacon and baked in an oven! I liked his dish a lot although at times it was a bit oily. But the smoky bacon taste to it was good! We also shared some old bay seasoned shoe string fries that were highly addictive.

The service at BFC is amazing though.

Tonight, we are going to Hill Country BBQ before going to a friend’s Improv show. Hill Country looks really, really good.

I don’t understand why Hill Country doesn’t have a website!
