The NY Times just ran an essay about how one’s literary likings can make or break a potential relationship. I agree. But for me the dealbreakers in my past have been about movies, music or food. Heh, I’m lowbrow.
It seems like all the world is looking for a reason – just any reason to reject someone. Years ago, I once went on a couple of dates with this guy – really cute and good-natured – but then, he revealed that his favorite movie of all time was Castaway.
I mean he didn’t really just like that movie- he LOVED it! He even named his volleyball Wilson. That was the beginning of the quick end.
We just didn’t seem to have too much in common. He was also really dull plus had a penchant for emailing me pics of himself with his shirt off to show off his physique. He was an athlete and pretty cut but come on- there’s only room for one vain person in a relationship and I call dibs.
Every now and then, Castaway Boy still IMs me to say hi. He just got married to one smoking hot chick and now resides in LA. He still has his volleyball named Wilson. And yes, Castaway is still his favorite movie.
